Dear Pierce City Arts Council members,
Thank you to all that came to the first 2009 PCAC meeting! In attendance were Hollis Webb, Polly McCrillis, Randy Ingram, Kristin Nama, Betty Bierkortte, and Becky Golubski. Plans are underway to have an arts festival in Pierce City, on June 13, 2009, from 10am-5pm. It will be called The Pierce City Arts Festival.
The desirable location for the festival runs north from the corner of Walnut and Commercial, then to the west on Main. Approved various artists, jewelers, authors, and potters will set up on both sides of the streets with food vendors nearest electrical outlets. Becky and Hollis will go to city hall in address festival goers parking, porti-potty concerns, and other logistics.
Polly volunteered to approach Freda Mae's with the idea of booking two or three musical performances since they have the outdoor facility for such an event. Kristin suggested contacting the Senior Center the opportunity to host a pancake breakfast that same morning. Other food vendors would include ice cream, sodas, and unique edibles.
Everyone agreed to decide on an application fee amount after talking to the city. Betty mentioned the need to have a bank account set up to receive checks from vendors.
Advertising issues were discussed such as posters, banners, and brochures.
Weekly meetings for the upcoming June festival will be held at the David Jones Library community room. The next one is set for Wednesday, March 11, 6:30pm. We will discuss feedback from the city and Freda Mae's, and more on advertising and brainstorming. Please come if you can, newcomers always welcome.
Any questions please call me.
Thanks, Becky Golubski
